World Cancer Day is an international day marked on the 4th of February every year to raise awareness on the dangers of cancer and advocate strategies for its prevention, detection, and treatment. The day is organized and led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Day Declaration of 2008.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Close the Care Gap,” focusing on identifying barriers that prevent people from accessing the cancer help they need. The World Cancer Day is also used to mobilize everyone, including governments, corporate bodies, religious organizations, non-profit organizations, communities, and individuals who have the resources to support this worthy cause.

David Omenukor Foundation, a member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), has been championing these crusades in Imo State for over 7 years. They enjoined Imo residents to join the sensitization and awareness march.
