Despite the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and other challenges being witnessed in the Nigeria football space, a European football expert from Sweden is very optimistic that the country will bounce back to greatness again, reports www.totorinews.com.
Hakim Abu- Rejeili is of the firm opinion that Nigeria will never lack football talents, but what is happening presently is a generational shift that will lead to renaissance of football greatness made in Nigeria in two, three or four years time.
“From every 100 players in Nigeria, you will definately find talented players,” Abu-Rejeili, who is among the European scouts at the scouting tournament organised by 5D Global Football Management in conjunction with CSC Agency in Abuja told www.totorinews.com exclusively.
He added: “We are yet to see the players in the class of Ronaldos, Messis, but we have seen great potential from these players, they are raw diamonds that needs to be refined. You need to polish these raw diamonds a bit, some need more polishing than others.
“Nigeria has been under the map of talent over the years. I think there is a shift going on now with this present generation.
“At the moment, you may not find so many talented footballers, but in the next two, three or four years, Nigeria is going to be a force to be reckoned with again.
“When that shift comes, that is when Nigeria is going to get back to its powerful self and produce great players again.
He said that the revolution in the digital space will be a positive reference for Nigeria football in terms of the talents that will be seen in the coming years.
“You have to remember, the generation that is there now is not born with the generation that is coming. The generation that is coming was born with phones in their hands, they see everything in the digital space.
“This generation coming want to imitate, they want to do the same or even more and in the next two, three or four years, Nigeria will have a selection of top rated young footballers that will graduate to the Super Eagles,” he concluded.
