The newly elected traditional ruler of Odu na Izuoha Autonomous Community in Amuzi Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze Vitalis Chikere, has pledged to serve his people as a leader, not as a ruler.
Eze Chikere, accompanied by his wife, Ugoeze Sabina Chikere, made this commitment during his formal presentation as the Duzieoha II of Odu na Izuoha Autonomous Community to the Executive Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Hon. Larry Chikwe, at the council headquarters in Afororu, Ahiazu Mbaise.
Reiterating his commitment to service, the Eze-Elect emphasized that his emergence as the community’s traditional ruler is a call to serve his people wholeheartedly.
Speaking during the event, the Acting President General of the community, Hon. Kingsley Omire, provided insight into the selection process. According to him, following the demise of the community’s first traditional ruler, a committee was set up to screen candidates. Over 30 individuals expressed interest, and through a meticulous process, the number was reduced to three finalists, from which the most qualified person was selected. The committee adhered strictly to the guidelines established by the community in selecting a successor.
The presentation ceremony was graced by the Chairman of the Ahiazu Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Sabinus Nwanage, and other traditional rulers from the local government area.
Hon. Larry Chikwe, the Executive Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, accompanied by the legislative councilors of the local government, commended the people of Odu na Izuoha for their unity and support for the Eze-Elect. He assured the community of the government’s continuous support in ensuring a smooth transition to new traditional leadership.
Chief Donne A. Chikere, the traditional prime minister of the community, expressed the community’s joy at being close to installing a new traditional ruler. He affirmed that the people are optimistic about Eze Chikere’s capacity to lead and serve.
The event marks a significant step towards solidifying leadership in Odu na Izuoha Autonomous Community, signaling progress and unity among the people.
