The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association and BOT Chairman Nigeria Professional Footballers Union, General Chikelue Iloeyoensi was the center of attention at the Imo State Sports Writers Association (SWAN) Week celebration held in Owerri. The former Nigerian footballer was present to support the Chairman of the Nigeria National Football League (NNL), Mr. George Aluo, who was honored as Sports Administrator Of The Year Award
Mr. Aluo, in his acceptance speech, dedicated the prestigious award to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, lauding his unwavering support for football development in the country. According to Aluo, the progress recorded in the league under his administration is largely due to the collective efforts of key stakeholders, including the leadership of the NFF.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, General Iloeyoensi commended Mr. Aluo’s innovative strides in the NNL, describing them as transformative for the league’s growth. He emphasized that the recognition was well-deserved and reflected the appreciation of the football community for Aluo’s efforts since assuming his role.
The former footballer highlighted the importance of partnerships and strategic leadership in advancing the league’s stature. He noted that such initiatives have not only improved the quality of play but also strengthened the league’s reputation locally and internationally.
