Pester Nieketien, Nigeria ex international and a coach, a panelist in the 5th Stephen Keshi lecture held on Friday 11 October 2024 in Benin, canvassed for unity amongst Nigeria ex internationals as a veritable tool for promoting indigenous coaches in Nigeria. He gave submission and support to the fact that the NFF who plays the piper dictates the tone. This has always been my word to any journalist concerning the appointment to our national team coaches. They’ll also request for people to apply, but their decision is already made.
He also talked about the relationship between ex internationals, according to him majority have been bought over, and that’s why the Unity amongst us is questionable.
He advocated for the need our coaches to go out and empower ourselves by making relevant use of their resources. “most of us are so lazy to learn, and that’s why we’re being used by people running our football who do not belong to our constituency.
He suggested further about the need for our home based coaches to be respected by our football body. Most of us played to the highest level, and they also got well-deserved qualifications overseas also He wants support for the realization of the late Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Center SKFVTC in Obazuwa Edo State, the Big boss dream which has the capacity and potential to impact and develop people, so there’s benefits to society if the place is established for learning and empowerment.
