Hon. Okenze Ezeji D.N Mbachu has called on President Bola Tinubu to create 1134 State Assembly Constituencies of 1979-1983 as local government areas, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
In a letter addressed to President Tinubu, Mbachu said that the creation of 774 local governments was “assured, lopsided and woeful failure, negating intents and purposes.”
He tasked the President to speedily set up a constitutional process to evolve 1334 state assembly constituencies of 1979-1983 as local government areas and ensuring they receive their monthly allocations directly aimed at making impacts at the grassroots.
He also advocated for the mandatory use of the 3 main Nigerian languages for national unity, particularly among federal civil servants and national assembly members adding that INEC should include it as part of the conditions for screening aspirants and candidates.
He also called for one Independent National Electoral Commission for sanity saying that the 36 states independent electoral commissions has bastardized the country’s democratic process.
