1. I have been directed by the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, to inform women referees involved in today’s Week 11 Women Premier League matches to be conscious of their officiating so as not to bring the game to disrepute. This, according to the leadership of the association is predicated by previous outings of our members and reports gathered ahead of today’s games including other coming matches to end the women league.
2. President of the NRA, Otunba Tade Azeez, while wishing appointed referees safe journey and good luck notes that the association, who in collaboration with the management of the NWPFL and NFF are working for good officiating won’t tolerate attempt(s) by any referee(s) to mess up the game.
3. According to Otunba Tade Azeez in his words “at this stage of the women league, we want our members to be good ambassadors of the NRA and refrain from being tools of any side that would stop them from being fair and firm on the field of play.
“We are also adopting a mechanism to monitor proceedings of our referees in all centers of today’s games and anyone *found wanting will face appropriate sanctions as the case may be”
3. The NRA President added that the association and NWFL organizers are available to receive complaints from referees on duty where they encounter impediments to good officiating that may become excuses for misconducts on the field of play.
4. Women referees are by this notice further alerted that the NWFL management has also deployed secret Assessors and Monitors to all the centers from now till the end of the league, which implies that nothing than fair and firm officiating is expected from them.
