BOWFT: “We didn’t expect it to turn out this good, next edition will be better” – Sabina Chikere

The Chairperson of the just concluded Betsy Obaseki women’s football tournament Mrs Sabina Ogene Chikere has expressed delight that the tournament turned out even better than she anticipated and has pledged that the next edition will be better, silvernews.com reports.

Mrs Chikere who is also the head of sports in the office of the deputy governor of Edo state, headed the planning and implementation of the tournament BOWFT held in Benin city where Bayelsa Queens where crowned winners while other participating teams made away with consolation prizes.

In an exclusive interview with silvernews.com, Mrs Chikere said ” am so excited and happy about it, i didn’t know is was going to turn out this good but we thank God it turned out well.
it is indeed a great preseason tournament and am sure that all the participating teams, everybody involved and the stake holders are all happy on how it turned out.

I am sure they might have got their dividend too, we are happy that everybody is happy and we thank God that we had a successful tournament.

Great lessons learnt, we are going to go back to the drawing board to see what we need to do for our teams by bringing in more hands and bringing in more quality players to beef up our teams and then from what we have seen so far, the next edition we will improve from what we have done this year by Gods grace.” she concluded.

Also speaking to silvernews one of the player of the Champions, Celine Ottah expressed pleasure for having the opportunity to participate in the tournament.

Ottah said ” I will like to thank God for making it possible for us to emerge winner in two different tournaments in almost the same period , I will also say it is from our hard work.
We have been working so hard in the past few months and glory be to God that we came out successful.

She also ask the supporters to have faith in them same way they have faith in the past we are coming from till now, they should have that believe in us that we are not going to let them down.
We are going to make them proud, may be the cup in Ijebu Ode at the NWFL Super Six was not ours in as much we anticipated to go there and conquer and come back but it turn out another way but we still thank God for everything, atleast there was no life lost, BOWFT is a tournament that is worthy to emulate i will advise and plead with other state first lady’s to emulate the first lady of Edo state to host a tournament like this to help the girl child” she told silvernews.com
