The Confederation of African Football has picked Monday, November 18 for Nigeria’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Rwanda, scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The Matchday 6 encounter will draw the curtain on the race from Group D for slots at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals to be held in Morocco December 2025/January 2026.

CAF has also appointed Moroccan match officials for the game, with Samir Guezzaz in the role of referee at the encounter that will commence at 5pm Nigeria time. His compatriots Zakaria Brinsi, Abdessamad Abertoune and Kech Chaf Mustapha will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2 and fourth official respectively.

Prosper Harrison Addo from Ghana will be the commissioner while Somalian Ali Mohamed Ahmed will be in the role of referee assessor.

For the Matchday 5 clash with Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Thursday, 14th November, that will commence at 7pm CIV time (8pm Nigeria time), CAF has appointed officials from Senegal to superintend, with Issa Sy to be referee.

His compatriots Djibril Camara, Nouha Bangoura and El Hadji Amadou Sy will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2 and fourth official respectively. Ivorian Rene Williams Sere will be commissioner while Angolan Inacio Manuel Candido will be referee assessor.

Women’s Cricket Championship finals excitement and trophy will follow Team Edo all the way to Benin City, thanks to Peace Usen sterling bowling performance.

Edo State team won the trophy after defeating Akwa Ibom by 89 runs. Edo scored 128 and lost 5 wickets as Victory Igbinedion contributed 40 runs while Piety Lucky made 36 runs for Edo. However Edo state favourite player and Player of the Match winner was Peace Usen who dismissed 5 Akwa Ibom batters.

Although from Akwa Ibom Peace Usen took away peace from team Akwa Ibom as they attempted to reach the 128 runs target. Akwa Ibom performance was below expectations as they lost valuable players early. Salome Sunday contributed only 10 runs while Esther Sandy played 5 runs.

Despite losing bitterly to Edo state, Akwa Ibom players dominated the awards category of the Women’s Cricket championships as follows:

A novelty match in honour of Late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has been fixed between Ex-Iwuanyanwu Nationale players and Ex-Enyimba FC players, Silvernews.com.ng reports.

The novelty match will take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on 31st October, 2024 at 3pm.

In a statement by the organizers, the Late Iwuanyanwu “represented a remarkable epoch, having signposted a giant resurgence as Pillar of Sports not only in Nigeria but also all over Africa and across the globe.

“Late Chief Iwuanyanwu was noted to have achieved greatly in diverse areas of human endeavors especially footballers,all which earned him sound national, continental and global recognition.

“Association of Ex-Iwuanyanwu Nationale players worldwide will play role as the host.”

In an International Friendly match played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Nigeria’s Senior female National Team, Super Falcons secured a convincing 2 – 0 victory over Algeria, reports silvernews.com.ng

The team led by Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who scored both goals, the Falcons show – cased their strength and depth, despite several changes to their regular team starting line up.

The match suffered a delayed Kick-off, approximately a 10 minutes delay from the earlier scheduled 3pm kick off time.

Despite the disruption, the Super Falcons found their rythm, demonstrating their focus and readiness, leading to a very comfortable victory against their North African Rival.

Team’s interim coach, Justin Magudu made notable changes to the usual starting line up, Fielding a few regular starters like , Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Oluwatosin Demelin.

The line up included many players from the local league and fringe squad members, reflecting Coach Magudu’s commitment to testing the depth of the squad.

The team displayed confession and determination throughout the match.

The Super Falcons show – Cased a clinical performance in the first half, with Ajibade opening the score in the 24th minute with a superb finish.

She doubled the lead just before half time.

The team had some struggles with passing and co – ordination due to the changes in line up, but their ability to capitalize on their chances was commendable.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade shone brightly with her two goals, high-lighting her importance to the team.

Their combined effort secured the victory and also demonstrated the individual talents in the team.

Through-out the match, Algeria struggled to mount a serious challenge against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Nigeria dominated possession and created more opportunities, while Algeria failed failed to threaten goal-keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who had little to do and was largely un-tested.

The Super Falcons took control of the pace of the game and secured a well deserved Victory.

The release further informed that Group A team, St Christopher is to honour the late father of the club’s President, Engr Henry Chukwudi Madubuko who will be laid to rest on December 20th, 2024 in Ubahadara Amaorie Ubulu in Oru West LGA.

The tournament which usually comes with lots of expectations, mouth-watery activities, beauty & pageantry is expected to be very glamorous this year even with the sponsors of the 2024 edition such as V-Tals IntegratedbusinessLtd, Robinson Apartments & Suits, Muna Suits, Camella Eye Clinic, Old English, Sakura Apartments, Julie’s Lunga, and among others have promised lots of fun.
