Association of Ex-Iwuanyanwu Nationale footballers Worldwide has paid tribute to Late Christian Obi, who until his demise was Heartland FC Chief Coach, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by its President, Isaac Mbika and Secretary, Kanu Anokwute respectively.
They described the Late Obi as a workaholic individual who was committed to his duty as coach of Heartland FC.
The statement reads: “We hereby painfully console and commiserate with the entire family of Obi, over the demise of Coach Christian Obi who passed unto Glory recently.
“Coach Christian power Obi played for many Nigerian Club side: Julius Berger Football club, Iwuanyanwu Nationale football club and as well played for Flying Eagles of Nigeria,he also was the goalkeeper of the flying Eagles in the Mosco Junior World Cup that won bronze Medal for Nigeria, as well played for the green Eagles from 1986-1992.
“Until his death,he coached Tara a United and was the Chief Coach of Heartland Football club of Owerri.
“You work tirelessly to ensure that your wealth of experience were transferred to the crops of players left under your tutulage.
“You were an answer to certain questions, because you were wisdom personified,also accord respect to anyone that came in contact with you irrespective of age,race and tribe.
“Your death was a big surprise to us,only God can tell and has price for everything.
“We find it difficult to begin to adjust to your physical absence or to believe that you are no more.
“You are a workaholic personality to the extend that you never toiled with your coaching job, always committed to ensure that you get things right.
“We fervently pray that God Almighty shall repose your gentle soul and grant you Heavenly Eternity.”
