The association of journalists and media professionals in Imo State under the aegis of the Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP) has unveiled a list of distinguished personalities nominated for its forthcoming Awards of Honour, recognising individuals whose contributions to national development, professional excellence and community service have made significant impact.
Among the personalities to be honoured is Dr. Benedict Ujoatuonu, an insurance executive, risk-management expert and former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Universal Insurance Plc. He is also recognised for his contributions as a community leader.
Also on the honours list is Dr. Mark Okhueleigbe, a consultant neurosurgeon, Chairman of the Management Board and Founder of Mark of Glory Specialist Hospital, Owerri, who will be celebrated for his professional accomplishments and contributions to healthcare.
The awards will also recognise High Chief Philip Chukwudi Onyenekwe, a Port Harcourt-based businessman and philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Chuks Arthur Dynamics Limited, for his achievements in supplies, general merchandise and business development.
Another prominent recipient is Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary to Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma. Nwachuku is a seasoned media executive and public relations strategist, as well as a former General Editor of Daily Independent newspaper.
According to FMMP, the honourees were carefully selected for their exceptional leadership, professional accomplishments, service to humanity and commitment to community development.
The awards will be formally presented on Thursday, August 13, 2026, during the Pre-Iriji Ceremony and Grand Reception in honour of Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, JP, Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone C, South-East.
The prestigious event will hold at Chris VI Hotel, near Eke Ahiara Junction, Mbaise, and is expected to attract media professionals, traditional rulers, political leaders, business executives and other distinguished guests from across the South-East and beyond.
