The member representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ugochukwu Amuchie, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots sports development, saying football remains one of the most effective platforms for promoting youth empowerment, peace and community unity.
Amuchie, who sponsored the kits for teams participating in the 2026 Iri Ji Mbaise Nation Football Competition, said his support for the tournament was aimed at encouraging young people to channel their energy into productive ventures through sports.
Describing football as a game that brings people from all walks of life together, the lawmaker noted that engaging youths in sporting activities would help reduce restiveness and keep them away from social vices.

He added that sports and culture are inseparable, stressing that the football competition aligns with the objectives of the annual Iri Ji Mbaise cultural festival by fostering unity, peace, brotherhood and love among the people.
According to him, his sponsorship represents a personal contribution to the success of this year’s Iri Ji Mbaise celebration and an investment in the future of the community’s young people.
Amuchie urged individuals, corporate organisations and community leaders to support similar initiatives, expressing optimism that the tournament would uncover talented players capable of excelling at higher levels of the game.
