Nguruwenkwo Autonomous Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, at the weekend, installed Okenze Ephraim Mbodo Opara as its new Traditional Premier (Onuowu), marking a significant milestone in the community’s traditional leadership structure.
The installation ceremony, which held at the palace of HRH Eze D.O. Njoku, Ekeweme II of Nguruwenkwo, followed a solemn holy mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Oboma Nguru. The event drew a large gathering of community members, dignitaries and well-wishers from different parts of the country.
Among the notable personalities in attendance were DIG Hilary Mbodo Opara (Rtd.), Onaka Nguru; Nze Anon Anyanwu; Chairman of Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Leo Nwokwocha; Eze Regina Amadi Obo I of Obetiti Nguru; and other traditional title holders who came to lend their support.
Prior to the conferment, the President-General of Nguruwenkwo Autonomous Community, Chief Pedro Chikwendu, performed the statutory certification required for the title. This paved the way for Eze Njoku to formally bestow the revered office of Onuowu on Okenze Opara, who succeeds the former Traditional Premier that passed on two years ago.
The ceremony featured cultural displays, prayers and goodwill messages, with many expressing optimism that the new Traditional Premier would consolidate peace, foster unity and champion developmental initiatives within the community.
