His Royal Highness, Eze (Dr) Enyeribe Onuoha (Eze Udo I) of Umuchieze Kingdom has appointed Chief (Professor) Chima Jacob Korieh as the Traditional Prime Minister (Onowu) of Umuchieze Autonomous Community in Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State. The appointment took effect on July 21, 2025, and was formally announced during the monthly meeting of the Eze-in-Council held on July 26, 2025.
Professor Korieh, who holds the traditional titles of Kpakpando and Okenku, brings over two decades of experience to the role, having served for 22 years as a member of the Eze-in-Council in the Court of His Royal Highness. His elevation to the position of Onowu follows his 2023 appointment as Cabinet Chief representing Umudionu Clan in the Eze’s Cabinet.
In his new role, Professor Korieh will be responsible for receiving official visitors and dignitaries, representing the Eze in his absence, and participating in meetings and official functions on behalf of the throne. His appointment underscores a tradition of trust and long-standing service to the Kingdom.
Speaking after his appointment, Professor Korieh expressed gratitude to the monarch for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to use the position to further elevate the Umuchieze Kingdom and promote its cultural heritage and development.
The ceremony, marked by traditional rites and a show of royal camaraderie, was attended by members of the royal court, community leaders, and well-wishers.
