A spirited inter-club friendly between Imo State’s prestigious Owerri Fitness Sports Club (OFC) and Lagos-based Ago All-Star was more than just an entertaining football match—it was a celebration of camaraderie and history.
The event, held at OFC’s home facility in Owerri, rekindled nostalgic memories, especially between two notable former players, Demion Ude and Peter Nwadike, who once lit up the pitch during their time with Iwuanyanwu National. The duo famously competed in the 2009 CAF Championship, narrowly missing out on continental glory after a hard-fought loss to TP Mazembe of Congo. Following their time at the club, Ude and Nwadike went on to pursue successful football careers in Tunisia and South Africa respectively.
The match itself showcased a high level of skill and sportsmanship, with both sides displaying fluid gameplay and mutual respect. While the scoreboard remained secondary, the chemistry and fellowship on display, especially after the match, underscored the enduring bonds forged through the beautiful game.
In the spirit of continued friendship and healthy competition, both clubs agreed to a second-leg match in Lagos, where the final winner of the friendly series will be decided.
