…Govt Pledges Support for Tennis Development
The Imo State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting tennis development. He made this promise when members of the ENIC-winning Recreation Club Orlu team paid him a courtesy visit and presented their championship trophy at his office in Owerri.
Commending the team for their remarkable achievement, the commissioner lauded their efforts in winning the trophy for the fifth time, bringing pride to both the state and the people of Orlu. As a former chairman of the Orlu Local Government Area, Onyeocha expressed joy at the club’s resilience and dedication, emphasizing that their success reflects the indomitable spirit of the Orlu people.
He further assured the delegation that their goodwill message would be conveyed to the Executive Governor of the state, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, whom he described as the most sports-loving governor in Nigeria.
Leading the delegation, the club’s Vice President, Sir Dom Louis Ebbe, highlighted the team’s commitment and hard work, acknowledging the solid foundation laid during Onyeocha’s tenure as a local government chairman. He noted that the victory was the result of the players’ and officials’ dedication and sacrifice.
A trustee of the club, Chief Dom Okoro, expressed excitement over the achievement, noting that while other solutions may falter, sports continue to thrive.
Other members of the delegation included Dr. Okoro Izuchukwu (General Secretary), Mr. Igwe Kelechi (Captain), Chief Marley Nnodim, Hon. Stanley Nwosu, Mr. Okchukwu Oguegbu, and Mr. John Paul Onyenucheya.
