Mr Emeka Opara, the only child of the late patriarch, and a prominent journalist—former SWAN Chairman of Ebonyi State and senior editor at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)—paid an emotional tribute to his father. “He wasn’t just a father but a guardian,” he said. “While fathers protect their families, this one shielded my mother and me with unwavering devotion. His word was law, and his presence was our strength.”

The burial ceremony was a gathering of notable personalities, including members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) from Ebonyi State and beyond. The CEO of Silvernews Communications, publishers of Silvernews and Wakawaka Newspapers, Mr. Kennedy Onwunali, also graced the occasion, underscoring the deep respect the late Engr. Opara commanded across various spheres.

It was a fitting send-off for a man whose life was marked by dedication to his family and community, leaving a legacy of honor and resilience.
