An ever-present figure in the sporting revolution today in Edo State, Mrs Sabina Chikere has backed Edo Queens to emerge winners of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
She stated this after the Nigerian champions defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the group stages to pick a semi-finals ticket.
According to Chikere, the team is capable to emerge winners adding that it will also serve as a gift to the new Edo State Governor and the immediate past Deputy Governor.
Her words: “Edo Queens have really made us proud. The gave a congratulatory gift to the new governor of Edo State. We are grateful for this feat which the girls have achieved and we are confident that Edo Queens will come back with the trophy. That is the gift we are going to give to the new Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
“Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu has always stood by them despite all the challenges he is been going through. He never left Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance, pushing them and urging them to go out there and be the best they can be and it has paid off that Edo Queens have qualified for the semi-finals.
“I am very sure they will come back with the trophy and present it to the new Governor and equally the immediate past Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, who has always stood behind them and played the role of a father to them.”
