Emmanuel Amuneke of Heartland FC has revealed that the club is taking several steps to ensure the playing turf at Dan Anyiam Stadium is in proper shape, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
The Heartland gaffer maintained that the club is committed in ensuring that the playing turf at the iconic stadium is in top shape to host matches in the 2024/2025 football season.
According to him, the stadium’s playing turf is meticulously maintained to meet the required standards noting that the club has decided to limit its usage, particularly training sessions to ensure the pitch remains in top condition.
He said: “We have been able to look at the circumstances that we found ourselves for now knowing that it is the best solution for us. For me it’s not just what we are doing, it’s all about how we can maintain the pitch throughout the season.
“In everything in life, you have to make sacrifice and one of the sacrifices is not to train there which is not even comfortable for us as a team but when you look at it from the other point of view, it is also a blessing to us.
“After each game, our intention and plans is to have people within 24 hours working on the pitch. For almost three months now, day in and out, people are working on the pitch.
“We have been able to create four boreholes at the stadium to enable us to have constant watering of the pitch. This is a pitch with all due respect over the years has not witnessed such treatment but we are on it now. We are not expecting things to be 100% immediately.
“We still need to do much better by seeking advices from Experts and that is exactly what we are doing. We understand that during dry season, the grass also suffer but we also understand that we can take the prevention part by avoiding to overuse the pitch, we can be able to manage it until the end of the season.”
