Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu has tasked Edo Queens to remain resolute to finish the business at the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
In the opening match, Edo Queens displayed a dominant performance, thrashing Confluence Queens 5-1 at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, on Saturday.
According to Shuaibu, “keep the fire burning, 5-star Queens. Your quest to the Nigeria Women Football League Big Crown started on a blitzing form and it gives me joy to see that you started on a bright note, though not surprising.
“This is just the first hurdle to cross, let’s keep our heads cool and keep training hard to cross the remaining four hurdles successfully.
“Keep reigning and keep the fire burning. Congratulations on your win, Edo Queens FC.”
The victory propelled Edo Queens to the top of the standings ahead of the remaining matches on the opening matchday. They will next face debutants Heartland Queens on Monday, May 20, 2024.
