It was yet another well deserved victory for Yoca Crocodiles in their matchday 6 fixfure against Fulfill FC at the Kaduna centre of the Nation-wide League One (NLO), decided at the Ahmadu Bello stadium.
The first 20 minutes didn’t produce much scoring opportunities, but the attacking trio of Lukman Ibrahim, Fortune Ghankon and Hassan Ibrahim were constant threat to the defense line of Fulfill FC. Aliyu Sugau in right back position also tormented the backline of the opponent with his overlapping runs and almost perfect crosses.
The first scoring opportunity fell the way of Yoca Crocodiles when Aliyu Sugau’s cross met Lukman Ibrahim who picked out Hassan Abdullahi, but shot slightly off target.
Lukman Ibrahim’s heavy first touch in front of goal let me down from giving Yoca Crocodiles the lead in the 23rd minute after Aliyu Sugau’s brilliant cross picked him out.
The deadlock was finally broken eight minute later when Sani Dan Bauchi found time and space in the box to register his fourth goal of the campaign after receiving a pass from Lukman Ibrahim.
Aliyu Sugau was drafted to the wing in the second half from his right back position and had the opportunity to get his third goal of the NLO24 season five minute before full time but was unlucky after his fine effort bounced off target after beating the goalkeeper.
The last throw of the dice fell the way of Sani Dan Bauchi after substitute, Mubarak Abdullahi laid a fine pass to him following his brilliant solo drive from the middle of the pitch.
“It was a keenly contested match, our opponent have been there before us just like our last opponent (KJ United). Thank God we scored in the first half and told the boys to keep their heads up in the second half and maintain their discipline so that it doesn’t become a problem for us. It was loads of anxious moment for us but we had to maintain our 100 percent winning record.
“Our focus is now on Standard FC, another highly experienced side in the NLO who are third on the log before going into their next match later today. A win for us against Standard FC and we’re in the final playoff for promotion to the NNL. Yoca Crocodiles are still top of the log with 18 points from six matches and are just one win away from sealing final playoff spot.
