A former dependable solid defender of Heartland FC, Onyewuchi Onyechefula, has promised to ensure that Heartland Feeders gain promotion to the Nigeria National League, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
Onyewuchi, whose career was cut short due to injury said he is ready to come back to the game fully by ensuring that the team returns to the NNL.
The former Niger Tornadoes, Gombe United, ABS of Ilorin and Rovers of Calabar defender will join Heartland Feeders in this season’s NLO campaign.
His words: “We have been preparing for this NLO and with the commitment that I have seen in my team, I believe we are going to do well.
“To me I don’t underrate a league. Every league I play, I take it as a business and I believe this is one of the business that can take me back to limelight. That’s why I encourage my teammates to put all. There is no small football. Every football is important to you as a player.
“I started with Rovers of Calabar, went to ABS of Ilorin, played Niger Tornadoes, Gombe United and came down to Owerri to play Heartland where we played the last continental that we went out in Gabon.
“After my surgery, I stepped back a little. Thank God I am back. I brought this team back from relegation in 2015 and I still believe I will take this team to the NNL.”
