The founder and CEO of Firstmahi FC of Imo State, Prince Chidiebere Onuoha, has reiterated the commitment of his club to ensure that youths are empowered through sports and education, Silvernews.com.ng reports.

Firstmahi, a fast-growing grassroots football club in Imo State will participate in the 2024 NLO One season.

According to him, the club will be used as an avenue to support the youths to thrive in the game of football outside the shores of the country.

He called on other football administrators to prioritize the education of the footballers towards ensuring that they are equipped in various forms of disciplines aside sports.

“Firstmahi FC is a big club in Imo State and we are in NLO One. This is to support the youths of Imo State and Nigeria. Nobody fails in sports unless you don’t know how to go about it. FirstMahi have been great with the management. I believe we will do well.

“There is a couple of people in Imo State that are using sports to empower the youths. Every youth you see in Nigeria wants to leave the country. You develop them in sports so that they can have the opportunity of leaving to go and play international matches.

“We are not only interested in football, you put them into schools. I understand the football in Imo State and Nigeria. Most of the youths stopped going to school because they want to play football and forgetting there is going to be a second life.

“I will appreciate that the club owners try to force the kids to go back to school. If they go back to school, sports will be a better place for them.”
