NYCN Chairman Applauds Imo REC For Engaging CSOs On Election Observance

The Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Sylvia Uchenna Agu, has been applauded for freely engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to fairly observe the 2023 elections across the state.

This applause was given by Imo State Chapter Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Barr. Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka, while speaking to journalists after an interactive meeting involving INEC Management and Civil Society Organizations, held at the Commission’s Office in Owerri, on Thursday.

Udoka said the feat by the REC was germane and highly commendable as the civil society groups did wonderfully in sensitizing the people on the importance of active participation in electoral process, as well as involving in observing the elections, an effort he added eased some issues for INEC.

The Imo NYCN Chairman hinted that Prof. Agu was resilient and committed to free and fair election in the state hence she financially empowered the civil society based groups to freely and safely observe the poll.

He thumbed up for the REC for conducting the elections fairly and freely despite some pockets of irregularities, urging her to reflect on some of the salient points raised by the Civil Society Organizations during the interactive meeting enable INEC to improve in the next election.

However, Udoka assured INEC that NYCN under his leadership would intensify effort as to educate youths on the need to take effective part in election to improve good governance.
