As women across the christiandoom in the country celebrated their day, the wife of the Administrator of Mgbuisii Archdeaconry, Ohaji in Imo State, Mrs. Ngozi Okoronkwo has admonished mothers to always present themselves as worthy christians wherever they find themselves.
Preaching a sermon to mark the 2024 Mothering Sunday celebration held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Ilile -Ohaji, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, Mrs. Okoronkwo advised Christian mothers to shun living a blemish or ungodly life that would stop their husbands from being bold and proud of them.
While recalling the real significance of the celebration, Lay Reader Okoronkwo reminded the worshipers that the annual event is purely designed to celebrate mothers whom according to her are worthy to be honoured and appreciated.
Speaking on the theme of the celebration: “He who loves his wife, love himself”, referencing Ephesians Chapter 5 vs 28, the preacher pointed out how a christian marriage should be especially from the point of a christian father.
She advised christian fathers to be alive to their mandate of loving there wives as they love themselves.
While advocating for a standard of christian living in christian families as already laid for people by the Bible, Mrs Okoronkwo said that such standard when maintained should be far from the way families and people do their own things.
She said: “Christian fathers should love themselves as Christ loves the church and gave Himself to the church, this is how a man should give himself for the sake of his wife.”
In his message during the celebration, the Administrator of Mgbuisii Archdeaconry, Rev. Canonon Onyeka John Okoronkwo expressed joy for the successful Mother’s Day celebration which by human calculation, giving the current economic situation on ground, would not have held.
Acknolwledging that christian mothers have learnt a big lesson from the celebration, the man of God advised them to continue to depend in God notwithstanding the economic realities in the country.
He said: “Yes the women learnt a lot when it was obvious that things were not going to work out by human calculation, so they had no other option than to beckon on God.”
Mrs. Harriet Ngozi Orie read the first lesson while the second lesson was read by Mrs. Leonard Ekeada.
