Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation to Launch Standard Football Facility in Mbaise

The Founder of Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation, Dr. Summers VC Nwokie (IKUKUOMA 1 OF MBAISE) is set to launch a standard football facility in Mbaise, Imo State, Wakawaka Sports Extra reports.

Speaking with Journalists during a facility tour in Mbaise, a representative of the foundation, Comrade Julius Nnaji Kelechi said it has always been the dream of the founder to create an enabling environment where talents will be harnessed.

According to him, the facility will be a synthetic grass that will be FIFA standard comprising 3D scoreboard, drainage system, perimeter fence, stands and media stand.

His words: “High Chief Summers Nwokie has always reiterated the need for him to put up a world class stadium here in Mbaise where he can boost the fact that the whole of the country can always come to. We have a good environment to play football.

“He has the passion to give the youths a place as far as those who want to play football and a good platform for them to showcase their talent. Without a good environment, it will be very difficult for one to discover a good talent.

“Of course if you look at where we are now and if you are coming from Owerri, you will drive straight to Aboh Junction and straight to Okpofe. The first thing we are going do is to create an access road that is tarred with street lights and flowers.

“It means a lot because when you talk of sports development the first thing you consider is your facility. It’s a facility that draws people anywhere for example if you are having a tournament the first thing either a FIFA tournament or NFF Technical Team does is to come for facility check and that is what has spurred us to give world class field.

“For now we have 50 plots of land for the project. We are looking at FIFA standard field. The synthetic grass is going to be 50mm. We will have a 3D scoreboard, drainage system, perimeter fence will be 8m up and 2m down just to giude the field itself. We are going to have 2 camera stands and floodlights for night games. From what we signed with them, the assured us that within the next one month, the place will be ready for usage. We are considering putting up hotels for teams reservations.”

On their part, Echendu Osita, representing the construction company handling the project said it will delivered within a month.

According to him; This project will start any moment from now and take us at least one month to finish the field for now. It will have the stand, media stand, electrical scoreboard. It’s an artificial turf.”
