The Sky Blue Stars defeated Bayelsa United 2-1 in Yenegoa in a nervy encounter that saw the goal keeper of Bayelsa United, Oluwaseun Solomon being given the marching order after he came out of his box to pick the ball.
At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Doma United held their own to pick a vital point off Sporting Lagos while Kwara United replicated the same result in Port Harcourt after a stalemate with Rivers United.
The mouth-watering fixture of the weekend was in Aba between Enyimba Int’l and Akwa United. The game lived up to its billing as Enyimba led the visitors two-nil before the Promise Keepers responded back. A free kick by Somairi Alalibo was enough to give the Aba Landlords the vital three points in a five-goal thriller.
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars came from a goal down to beat Gombe United 2-1 courtesy of a brace by the Skipper of the side, Malomo Taofeeq who put up a terrific display.
In other centres, Heartland FC snatched a point in Akure against Sunshine Stars while Lobi Stars held Katsina United to a barren draw. Bendel Insurance were one-nil victors over Plateau United. Im Awka, Rangers Int’l defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-1 while Abia Warriors recorded a slim one-nil victory over Kano Pillars in Umuahia.
Bendel Insurance, Rangers Int’l, Abia Warriors, Shooting Stars and Remo Stars are all tied with 6 points as joint-table toppers while Niger Tornadoes, Kano Pillars, Heartland and Akwa United are at the bottom table.
