Barrister Ifeanyi Dike has emerged Chairman of the Imo State Football Association, to take over the running of football in the Eastern Heartland from Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, who stepped down from the position after a leading the FA to a new era in football administration in the country.
The election at the Christan Association of Nigeria (CAN) office, which was witnessed by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, represented by the Chairman of the Abia State Football Association, Rev Dr Obioma Onyeaghala and his Anambra State counterpart, General Chikelue Iloenyosi, saw delegates from the Local Government Football Associations and Professional Unions in the state voting for the candidate of their choice.
At the end, Barrister Dike, who was the only candidate for the chairmanship position pulled 30/30 votes to emerge winner while Chief Sylvester Obasi won the Vice chairmanship position among other elected officials to run the affairs of football in the state.
Wakawaka Sports Extra reports that the former Chairman, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam was honoured with Hononory Chairman of the Association for his great contributions to the development of the game in Imo State, Nigeria and Africa with the former Super Falcons captain, Desire Ugochi Oparanozie honoured as Ambassador of the Association.
General Iloenyosi commended the members of Imo State FA for electing a man with passion for the development of the game while promising to assist the new chairman in any area he can to grow the game in the South East zone.
Barrister Dike, on his part, promised to take football to the next level in the the state and follow the foot steps set by Mazi Uchegbulam to develop the game and carry stakeholders along in all his programmes.
