All roads leads to the volleyball court in Dan Anyiam Stadium owerri on 5th of June 2023 for the commencement of volleyball championship for 1st and 2nd division league clubs in the country organized by the Nigeria volleyball association.
Thanks to the controller of im migration service in imo state Mrs Nkechi Ezugwu for attracting the hosting right to Imo state and as well commend the state government through the hard working commissioner for youth, sports and social development and indeed the entire people of imo state for accepting to host the championship. After what seems like eternity , imo state is now set to host another very important tournament comprising clubs from the 36 states in the country and the FCT. The last time Imo state saw the entire states in the country empty in owerri and it’s environs we’re probably in imo 98 sports festival and of course the Nigeria police games hosted in owerri.
The gains in this championship are enormous and practically put into use by all concerned would go along way in human capital development. These gains are for the competitors, government and those doing business.
These gains includes the following:.
(1) Any good player can be discovered by the government or even scouts that may have come from far and near to search for such players.
(2) For the young ones in the state who may have been looking for an opportunity to watch a game of this nature this may just be the chance they have got to embrace the game and if possible start playing same.
(3) For business people , those that sell all kinds of things like water, biscuits, transporters, hotels and others will definitely thrive within this period.
(4) The state stands to get a standard volleyball court and other sporting facilities and the end of the competition that Will be use full to develop younger talents .
Teams across the country has started arriving from Saturday 3/6/23 for the competition and it is expected to last until the 10th of June 2023.
The hostel facilities in Dan Anyiam now wearing a new look to comfortably and effectively accommodate the huge number of athletes expected in the championship.
