The club friendly between Enyimba FC of Aba and Barzo FC of Owerri lived up to to expectations as the People’s Elephant left no stone unturned in parading most of its key players which included the likes of Pascal Eze, Samuel Kalu Chibuike Nwaiwu, Fathy Abullahi and Erigo Adiele with a blend of youth team players.
it was an entirely different things when the game kicked off as Barzo FC started very brightly in the opening 10 minutes, forcing the Enyimba goalkeeper to make some wonderful saves.
After 28 minutes, Enyimba went on a swift counter attack which got them the first goal of the game.
Barzo immediately launched a quick counter reaction to seek for the equaliser and hit the woodwork in the process.
But Enyimba took the control of the game. In the 30 minutes, Fathy Abdullahi fired home a thunderous shot from outside the box which beat the goalkeeper to make it two for Enyimba FC
At that point the high spirits of the Barzo FC team was energetic and their midfield worked hard to stabilize the game.
Wakawaka Sports Extra reports that Enyimba continued attacking from from every angle as Moses Omdumoreke made it three for the former African Champions.
At the restart, Barzo FC made some couple of changes which yielded positives as the boys came back stronger.
There was more improvement in the midfield and in the attack as they dictated play which put Enyimba agile goalkeeper on duty as he denied Barzo FC chances of getting goals with his fine saves in the game.
In the 78 minutes, Adiele Erugo latched on a defensive error to make it four for Enyimba.
Barzo efforts at getting a goal proved abortive as Enyimba defence was very strong to breakdown on the day.
Barzo FC Coach speaking after the game expressed happiness at the performance of his side saying it’s a learning process for his team despite the scoreline.
He promised that the team will do better in their next meeting because they have learned a vital lesson from the game adding that the team will perform better when both teams meet again.
