Football development in Mbaise nation received a big boost last weekend when the first edition of Mbaise Nation Football league kick started at St Paul’s Football ground Ogbe Nnesi in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

The league was designed to rediscover the sporting potentials of youths of the area which is on the decline in recent years.

The opening ceremony was also remarkable because the first game was dedicated to a a referee and great Shepherd of the Lord, Rev Fr. Dr Charles Chima Anyanwu, who died six years ago.

Rev. Anyanwu is renowned to be the main motivation for the success of youths of Mbaise and many people around the world.

In the opening game, CENN FC played a 1- 1 draw with Emeka Akpunku FC as the league will have games each week with teams visiting the home ground of their opponents and returning to play their own home games.

Interestingly, arrangements to stream star matches as game of the week every weekend has been put in place in Mbaise Nation.

Teams such as; Emeka Akpunku FC, CENN FC, Platinum FC, Nze Chikere FC, Silver Sports FC, E-dey Work FC and Amageb FA will go down in history as teams that started the league.
