The first edition of Mbaise Nation Football league will kick off today at St Patrick’s School Ogbe in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
CENN FC of Nguru will take on Emeka Akpunku FC in the opening game of the competition which will be a platform to grow teams for the state league and preparation for other bigger competitions.
The 2023 edition will see seven teams take part in the league including; Emeka Akpunku FC, CENN FC, Platinum FC, Nze Chikere FC, Silver Sports FC, Edy Work FC and Amagba FC.
According to the CEO of Wakawaka Sports Extra, Mr Kennedy Onwunali, the organization’s packaging the competition said each team will register 25 players with five over-aged players and 20 U-19 players.
Mr Onwunali said the competition which will take the players round the communities in the three local government areas of Mbaise and will help expose the players and officials to the modern football business.
