Dependable shot-stopper of Nigeria National League side, Vandrezzer FC, Obinna Akuchie, has expressed optimism that his team will gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Speaking with Wakawaka Sports Extra on Global FM Sports update, the number one goalie of the Eket-based side said the mentality and confidence of the team will propel them to enviable heights.
Despite being sidelined by injury having played two games this season, Akuchie noted that the training facilities at the club has helped improved his game.
“This season we are giving our best but things are not that easy. We will keep working hard because my first and second games, I did fine we won 3-1 against Go-Round and drew with FC ONE Rocket. I got injured and I have not been in the league for three matches.
“The players playing are giving their best. Nevertheless, we are not losing any hope. The second round is starting on this weekend and we are away to Rovers of Calabar. We have to come back with points. We can still gain promotion this season I believe in the players.
“I ought to move abroad but the club really needs me. They asked me to stay to see how things go this season.
“Vandrezzer is a good team for every young player to play in, from the facilities, game tactical, game play, mentality, the confidence in the team is very good. In Vandrezzer we play good football.
“The technical equipment for goalkeepers makes you work more faster to move before the ball, it makes you get more grip on the ball and makes you to stay accurately. It doesn’t make any mistake. It makes every of your footsteps to be faster. It helped me to keep 8 clean sheets in 22 matches.”
