It was a historic moment for one of the newly formed teams in Imo State, FR Eburuaja FC, who defeated Green Berets FC of Kaduna by 3-2 in the Federation Cup round of 64 encounter.

The lads, who surprisingly made it to the FA Cup at the national level, is been owned by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Eburuaja, whose target is to add value to the lives of youths in a ravaged town of Orlu in Imo State.

In a chat with Wakawaka Sports Extra on Global FM Sports update, he hailed the lads for the tremendous success adding that they fought like wounded lions against the Nigerian Army team.

While calling for support from Imolites to help achieve his course, he noted that with sports, youths in Orlu will have a sense of belonging in order to make the state proud.

“It was wonderful to be honest with you. We played against Nigerian Army team. The guys were hard. My boys fought them like wounded lions. If not for God we wouldn’t have won the match and determination from my boys.

“I am the sole sponsor of the club. I have no aim of stopping. I want to give value to these boys. What am doing is adding value through sports. I want to help them to achieve that dream in their life.

“We have other good players in Orlu. Some of them are still hiding, some ran out of the town, some of them are no way to be found because of insecurity. I believe if everything calm down, those hidden boys will come out and join the team.

“I want to thank Imo people and that we are going to make them proud. It’s not easy. We need their support and prayers. I’m calling on well-meaning Imo people to support me. I have no resources just the grace of God. We are moving forward to make Imo proud.”
