Samuel Anakwe’s 17 seconds strike ensured that Remo Stars returns to winning ways against Enyimba FC after an uneventful outing away from home against Bendel Insurance on Saturday.
The game just barely started when the home team got the ball in the back of the net. It was a silky smooth attacking play from the left side of the pitch, Okon Anakeme’s low cross caused some trouble for the visitors in the box, and Anakwe was on hand to put the ball in the back of the net.
As the game rolled by, there wasn’t enough to cheer about as both teams find it difficult to penetrate and find a way through.
In the second half, the tempo of the game didn’t change as fans were left disappointed with the performance of the players.
Enyimba FC goalkeeper made a string of saves, as the home team effortlessly look to bury the game.
The visitors barely posed any threats to their opponents as Kayode Bankole, had less to worry about all through the game.
The People’s Elephant will be looking forward to bounce back from the defeat when they take on
El-Kanemi Warriors while the Ikenne-Based side will be travelling to Uyo, to take on Akwa United.
Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede, who spoke with Wakawaka Sports Extra, South-West Chief Correspondent, Elegbede Jacob Pipelaye, commended the boys for the winning mentality after loosing their last match. He also emphasized on the reason why he had to made some changes to the team, noting that, it’s been tough with the abridge league format, and he had no choice but to manage what he has at his disposal.
On their away trip to Akwa United, he reiterated that, nothing is impossible, considering how teams have been going away to pick points this season.
