ENIC Chairman Dr Ugochukwu Uzodike
Ahead of the 2023 ENIC Tennis Super Four Extravaganza billed to hold in Owerri, Imo State capital, Chairman of the of ENIC, Dr Ugochukwu Uzodike, has expressed optimism of a hitch-free event.
Speaking with Wakawaka Sports Extra, Uzodike said they will improve upon what has been done in the previous editions, adding that the clubs in Owerri are very significant to their course.
He revealed that the upcoming junior tournaments will be moved from Abakiliki to Owerri aimed at discovering more talents at the grassroots level.
The Vice President of Nnewi Sports Club also applauded the heroics of fast-rising number one tennis star in the country, Uchenna Oparaoji saying that he is a product of the club.
Uzodike went further to appreciate Cutix PLC for identifying with the club despite the challenges in the country noting that the club will continue to do their best to deliver.
He said: “We are proud to have our final super four extravaganza in Owerri to be hosted by Owerri Sports Club which is one of the premier clubs in the south east and Nigeria. We are happy to be coming here.
“We are here to make some of the preliminary arrangements and discuss with them with regards to the upcoming final four. We are expecting it to be the best final four we ever had.
“We will do what we have done before, improve upon them or maybe do a little bit more in publicity, take advantage of the fact that we have four very significant clubs that are members of the ENIC family in Owerri.
“We hope to benefit from all that and we hope to make a difference. We are also looking forward to one of the clubs here sponsoring upcoming junior tournaments just to have a change from Abakiliki where we have always gone to. We are looking forward to a lot of things from Owerri clubs.
“People don’t always understand the significant of the junior tournaments. It is something that we will continue to work with our sponsors to continue to do it every year.
“One of the reasons we came to possibly host it in Owerri next time is to increase the participation of clubs because there are lots of clubs in this area who have junior teams.
“Uche’s performance is as a result of growing up in ENIC Junior tournaments and ENIC and Cutix PLC are very proud to have him as number one in Nigeria today. He was recently at Nnewi when Senator Ifeanyi Ubah launched massive club house he has built for Nnewi Sports Club.
“Uche was there for an exhibition game as the number one and we are proud to see him. Most people remembered him when he was the ENIC junior champion.
“We appreciate Cutix and continue to ask them for more. The success of Uche and whatever we are seeing here, the super four concept itself is all to the credit of cutix Plc who have stood with us despite any economic recession, financial issues, recently with Covid-19, now massive insecurity in our country.

“In my three years as ENIC Chairman, we have had insecurity, Covid-19, kidnappings and we are here surviving and going forward.
