Reliable left-full back sensation for 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United, Ebube Duru has described the felling of winning the league as every player’s dream.
Duru, in a chat with Wakawaka Sports Extra, shortly after Rivers United were crowned league champions in Port Harcourt, believes that his team emerged champions by creating new records.
He revealed that he started his professional football career at Lobi Stars under the late Coach Solomon Ogbeide, who gave him the chance to prove his mettle.
Duru went further to eulogise the tremendous support from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, while revealing that he might move to Europe if a better deal comes.
“I’m very happy. Winning the league for the second time in the space of four seasons and it’s a thing of joy. As a young player, it’s everyone dream to play in NPFL and win the league. I’m winning it in a grand style, creating record in the league.
“I’m so grateful for Late Solomon Ogbeide for giving me the platform. I played for Lobi Stars for about four to five seasons. The players and coaches that I met here were friendly. The adaptation was very easy and I feel more happier here because winning the league with this record and the governor in this state.
“In modern football, the wing backs are not called full backs and we play a very big role in the team. It’s good as a wing back you should have that good attacking and defending too.
“One of my greatest assets as a full back is having good delivery and supporting the attack. I’m very happy because it’s a God given talent and I keep on working to improve everyday. I’m not thinking of Nigeria League, I will be thinking of a greener pastures come next season.”
