The lmo State Sustainable Development Ambaasadors’ Forum (ISSDAF) has restated its resolve to complement Government’s efforts in addressing socio-political issues in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the group’s Chief Convener, Amb. Benedict Nneji Opara, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Monday.
According to the release, the issues would be squarely addressed when the group holds its one-day Consultative Meeting with stakeholders in Owerri, the lmo state capital, on Friday, July 22 at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
Opara said that the meeting was necessitated by the outcome of the group’s advocacy and consultations with institutions and senior citizens of the state.
He added that the meeting, an initiative of the National Dialogue Project (NDP), would address issues bordering on leadership, integrity, good governance, social sanity, moral ethics and values, respect for the rule of law, security and peace building for sustainable development.
He also said that the meeting will afford participants the opportunity to address other critical issues bordering on social insecurity and banditry, as well as help break political deadlocks and create the enabling environment for sustainable development in the state.
” The special guests of honour will be Chief Cosmos Iwu, Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI) and His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr. Emma. C. Okeke, JP and Chairman, lmo State Council of Traditional Rulers.
” The Key Note Speakers will be Hon. Chief Mrs. Ruby U. Emele, Honourable Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs and Barrister Alinor Ugochukwu, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Owerri branch.
” The meeting which will hold under the distinguished co-chairmanships of: ADM. (Hon.) Willie T. C. Okolieogwo, Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Leader, Prince Lemmy Akakem, Deputy Chairman, lmo State Council of Elders Forum “, he said.
He, however, said that senior citizens of both state and national repute, including legislators in the state and National Assembly, as well as leaders of good thought from the public and private sectors of the economy will grace the event.
He also appealed to all invited stakeholders to attend and support the event to fruition.
