Emeka Ogbu elected,Sworn In As NUGA President

Mr Emeka Ogbu of Enugu State University of Science and technology(ESUT) has been elected and sworn in as president,Nigeria University Games Association.

Mr Ogbu was returned unopposed to become the new NUGA President after his only opponent
Dr Nnadozie Cliford of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture , Umudike, Abia State,voluntarily stepped down from the race few hours before the election proper.

Ogbu was elected on Friday 25th of March,2022 to steer the Nigeria University Games Association wheel of progress for a period of two years.

Until now, Mr Emeka Ogbu served as 1st vice President under the outgone President, Prof. Stephen S. Hamafyelto.

Also elected with Ogbu are Dr. Bawa Mohammed as First vice president, Abubaka (Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi), and Dr Michael Ajibuwa of Federal University of Technology Akure(Futa) among others during the successful 26th edition of the Nigeria University Games Association competition which held at the University of Lagos(UNILAG),

Briefing newsmen during the swearing-in ceremony, Emeka Ogbu thanked the Almighty God for the opportunity to serve Nigerians and the Sports community. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to a number of stakeholders, notably the outgone President for the remarkable hosting of the just concluded NUGA games, including Azana Omo-Agege, The Nigeria Boxing Federation Vice President,
Baye Osagie Sylvester Isioma , Member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee on Education who were among the Observers and dignitaries at the games

He promised to work together with various Directors of Sports in affiliate Universities to ensure the next NUGA games have the best of organisation and innovative ideas.

In his words, ” we will collaborate and bring the best of brains to raise the bar in terms of preparation and sourcing for partnerships to improve the quality of our sporting competitions.”
