The Nigeria Police Force community policing initiatives has launched a community driven initiative tagged the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).
National coordinator of the POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu who performed the launch in Osun state on Thursday said that the initiative was geared towards internal security in families and communities.
According to Amaraizu , POCACOV in my family was borne out of the ongoing POCACOV programme tagged POCACOV in my community which has been mobilizing stakeholders for participations and problem solving through forum based programmes, activity based programmes and community relations activities .
He noted that POCACOV in my family is a consciencious and deliberate effort by the Police towards reinventing the role of the family in the moral upbringing of a child.
” Many things we learned as little children growing up was from the family circle and failure in moulding any child starts from home because the home is an important element playing a crucial role in the development of a child in his immediate environment.
” We have identified this as a process that will help to proffer solutions and bring about problem solving especially in the areas of value reorientation, self discovery, strategic leadership direction important in helping to cut the supply chains and conveyor belts of children’s involvement in cultism and other vices “, he said.
He added that the initiative would help to strenghten the policing accountability mechanism of parents and teachers as policing stakeholders and actors for safer school program and homes.
He also said that POCACOV in my family would help to promote the self discipline concept required in the child and make the child to conform to moral virtues.
” The activity will stimulate active and potent participations of all policing stakeholders and actors.
” POCACOV in my family will continually leave us with the consciousness for policing stakeholders to see themselves as partners in progress with the Nigeria Police Force for a better society”, he said.
