Businessman establishes female professional football club in Imo

Businessman establishes female professional football club in ImoMr Chidi Chinedu, a businessman, has set up a female professional football club in Imo.
Chinedu revealed this while interacting with newsmen in Owerri .
He said that his decision to venture into female football was hinged on his desire to contribute to the empowerment of the womenfolk in the state.
He added that the team named Imo Strikers Queens would debut with a school sports program where secondary schools in the state would compete in June 2021.
“My desire to empower the girl child as a way of giving back to society is what informed my desire to establish Imo Strikers Queens Football Club, a professional team.
“The team will be coached by an experienced female football coach in the state, Alex Ndulaka and I expect that he will reproduce his working magic which has seen him produce both male and female teams in the state in the past,” he said.
In his remark, Ndulaka said the state is blessed with raw talents waiting to be harnessed, which was why he decided to give the opportunity of coaching the new team a trial.
” The job of helping young girls become successful in their chosen career is part of my job as an established coach in the state.
” I relish the opportunity to coach this young team because I want to be part of the process of harnessing of talents yet untapped,” he said.
Also speaking, General Coordinator of the team, Nelly Orisakwe said that the best legs would be picked to join players discovered from the open screening that would eventually form the main team.
She added that the main team would compete for the state Football Association (FA) Cup and the state Female Football League.
