The hope of Sir Emmanuel Ochiagha to return back to his former seat as the Vice Chairman of Imo FA came to crushing end Thursday following his sweeping defeat by Ifeanyi Dike in the by-election held at the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, center, Owerri.
The seat became vacant following Ochiagha’s appointment into the board of Heartland Football Club.
The 2017 Integrity Rule of NFF means that upon his appointment into Heartland FC board, Ochiagha would step down from his FA position, which he duly complied with.
But desirous of coming back to the FA as Vice Chairman, Ochiagha stepped down from his position in the Heartland FC board, a decision that qualifies him to take part in the by-election.
During his absence, Ifeanyi Dike acted as Vice Chairman of the Imo FA.
During Thursday’s poll, attended by 25 out of the 34 Imo FA delegates, Barrister Dike pulled 24 votes to defeat Ochiagha who garnered only one vote.
Ochagha became the Vice Chairman of the Amanze Uchegbulam led FA in 2011.
