SILVERSPORTS FC BEGIN IMO FA LEAGUE CAMPAIGN AGAINST EVERMORE FC

 

Silversports Football Club of Aboh Mbaise today began their 2026 Imo State Football Association League campaign with a 3-0 defeat in their opening game of the season against Evermore FC.

The match marked another important step in the club’s grassroots football development journey as the young Silversports squad stepped onto the stage to compete in the state league.

The team, made up largely of secondary school players, is being built with a long-term vision of developing young talents through competitive football. The club has continued to expose the players to more experienced opponents to help them gain confidence, maturity, and better understanding of the game.

Head Coach Frank Mbata and his technical crew remain focused on improving the team as the season progresses, with emphasis on player development and building a strong football foundation.

Club proprietor Mr Kennedy Onwunali said the project is about creating opportunities for young players to grow and discover their potential he also thank the imo state football association chairman Barrister Ifeanyi Dike for his support to the team.

“Every game is part of the learning process. These young players are gaining the experience they need to improve and become better footballers,” Onwunali said.

He added that Aboh Mbaise has produced great sports personalities including Dr Patrick Ekeji, Chidi Nwanu, Chioma Ajunwa, Emmanuel Ariwa, Uche Echeria, Jerry Uche and Circus Ndukwu, stressing the importance of sustained investment in grassroots sports development.
