The South East Representative on the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Chief Ugo Udezue, has congratulated D’Tigers for their outstanding performance in the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers after the team completed a flawless qualifying window with three victories from three games.
Nigeria sealed their campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 106-62 victory over Rwanda to book a place in the second round of the African qualifiers.
Chief Udezue described the team’s performance as a testament to the resilience, discipline, and quality of the players and coaching crew, adding that the result has further strengthened Nigeria’s status as one of Africa’s basketball powerhouses.
He also commended the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engineer Musa Kida, for providing purposeful leadership and creating an enabling environment for the growth of the game.
According to Udezue, the steady progress being recorded by the national teams is proof that Nigerian basketball is moving in the right direction.
I congratulate D’Tigers for making the nation proud with an excellent qualifying campaign. Their commitment and determination were evident throughout the tournament. I also salute the President of the NBBF, Engineer Musa Kida, whose visionary leadership continues to reposition basketball in Nigeria. There is no doubt that under his administration, Nigerian basketball is steadily moving towards the promised land,” Chief Udezue said.
He urged the players to remain focused as they prepare for the next phase of the qualifiers, expressing confidence that the team has the quality to secure a place at the FIBA Basketball World Cup and continue making Nigeria proud on the international stage.
