Ogun State – 19 June
2026: Nelo Dreams Foundation, in partnership with Rangers International Football Club Foundation, held a mental health engagement for pupils of Nathaniel Gift School, Ogun State.
The session targeted Primary 4-6, JSS 1-3, and SS 1-2 students through RIFC Foundation’s _Beyond the Pitch_ initiative, anchored on Social Emotional Learning + Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.
Key Highlights:
1. Understanding Depression: Students learned what depression is, how it affects mental health and wellbeing, and why early recognition matters.
2. Recognizing Symptoms: Practical signs to watch for in themselves and peers, moving from stigma to awareness.
3. Effects on Mental Health: How untreated stress and negative beliefs impact learning, relationships, and decision-making.
4. Action Over Silence: Students were equipped with RIFC Foundation’s 4-Step SEL+REBT Model and toolkits to speak up, seek help, and dispute self-defeating thoughts.
5. Message: Never keep quiet when things are not going well with you. Speak out. Ask for help.
Through _Beyond the Pitch_, sport starts the journey and character finishes it. This engagement moves students from knowledge to ability to act, using SEL + REBT as daily mental health tools.
