The Uyo Club Tennis Open Day and Sports Fiesta has ended on a successful note, bringing together sports enthusiasts, club members, and guests from across the region in a celebration of competition, friendship, and sporting excellence.
The event, which held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Uyo Club, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was organized to promote healthy competition, strengthen inter-club relationships, and further showcase Uyo Club’s reputation as a leading sports and social institution and a pacesetter in sports development East of the Niger.
The fiesta attracted participation from several clubs, including Abak Sports Club, Calabar Sports Club, Chapel of Grace, Eket Sports Club, Hillview Sports Club Ikom, Ikot Ekpene Club, Marina Sports Club Uyo, Milito Diplomatic Sports Hub Abak, Owerri Sports Club, Ultrafit Sports Complex Uyo, UniUyo Senior Staff Club, and Uyo City Club.
Tennis took centre stage as the major sporting attraction, with players divided into Team Godfather and Team Hensek for a series of competitive matches. The games provided exciting moments as participants displayed skill, determination, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Beyond tennis, participants also engaged in other recreational activities including swimming, squash, board games, and social interactions, reflecting the wide sporting culture and hospitality associated with Uyo Club.
The event experienced a brief interruption due to rainfall, which affected the initial tennis schedule. However, with improved weather conditions, activities resumed as organizers made necessary adjustments to keep participants engaged and ensure the success of the fiesta.
Guests and participants were treated to quality welfare arrangements, with breakfast served in the morning and dinner provided later in the day, adding to the comfort and overall experience of the event.
The Sports Fiesta ended with a social gathering where members and visitors celebrated the success of the event, built new relationships, and strengthened the bond among participating clubs.
The Secretary of the Tennis Section, Uyo Club, Menyie Udofa, described the event as a major success, noting that the turnout, participation, and spirit of unity demonstrated the importance of sports in promoting friendship and community development.
The Uyo Club Tennis Open Day / Sports Fiesta has once again reinforced the club’s position as a major hub for sporting activities and a strong promoter of inter-club unity in the region.
