The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, Dr Ifeanyi Odii has mourned the demise of HRH
Dr. Agom Eze MON, OON, the Igboezekuna I of Igboeze Onicha, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
Odii, Chairman of Orient Global Group while reacting to Agom Eze’s death at 92, described it as devastating and a huge loss to the LGA, state, Ndigbo and Nigeria..
“Ezeogo Agom Eze was a trailblazer, an outstanding scholar, cultural ambassador, a prominent member of the Ebonyi founding fathers forum and an elder statesman.
“He lived a life of service for his people and distinguished himself in the public service cutting across old Imo, Abia and Ebonyi states,”
The Ebullient Philanthropist recalled that Agom Eze served as Commissioner for Works, Lands, and Housing; Education, Information; Industries, Trade, and Cooperative, in the old Imo state.
“He served as the Chairman, Abia state Civil Service Commission, and on the realisation of the Ebonyi state dream, he became the pioneer Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council.
“Agom Eze was an outstanding academic who lectured Economics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, becoming the first to earn a PhD in present day Ebonyi state.
“He served at the different councils of higher institutions in Nigeria including Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki where he served as the Pro-Chancellor,”.
Odii remarked that Agom Eze’s impact was also felt in the private sector where he played key roles in various financial institutions, sitting on various boards.
“We are however consoled that the late icon left lasting legacies.for generations to come.
“I on behalf of my family and the members of PDP Ebonyi state chapter, commiserate with the royal family of HRH Ezeogo Agom Eze, Onicha Igboeze people and Ebonyi state.
“May the soul of our departed patriot and royal, rest in peace,”
