A delegation of the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR) has undertaken an assessment tour of the ongoing refurbishment of the Aba Branch–Mbaise–Okpalla road, with a stop at a local business in Afro Oru Market, Ahiazu Mbaise, to evaluate the impact of the project on commercial activities in the area.
During the visit on February 24, 2026, the delegation called at Ogazikon Pharmaceuticals, a community-based pharmacy owned by prominent Mbaise stakeholders, High Chief Frank Ezeji and High Lolo Tina Chukwu.
The MPR team, led by its Chairman, Prof. Eddie Oparaoji, included notable members such as Mazi Desmond Obani, Hon. Uche Agomuo and Mr. Moses Nwagwu. The group interacted with staff of the pharmacy and discussed the potential economic benefits the road project could bring to businesses operating along the corridor.
Speaking during the visit, a staff member of the pharmacy, Mr. Franklin Udochukwu, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the road.
According to him, the ongoing reconstruction is expected to improve accessibility and create a more conducive environment for businesses within the area.
Members of the delegation observed visible signs of progress on the stretch from Aba Branch to Ahiara Junction, noting that the speed of the construction work appeared encouraging.
However, the team maintained that a comprehensive assessment of the project would only be possible upon its completion.
The visit, according to the delegation, forms part of the MPR’s broader commitment to monitoring infrastructure development and supporting initiatives that promote economic growth within the Mbaise community.
The positive feedback from Ogazikon Pharmaceuticals, the group noted, reflects increasing optimism among local entrepreneurs who believe the road rehabilitation will significantly enhance commercial activities in the area.
