The father of Chelsea and Burnley striker, lesley Ugochukwu, Mr. Godfrey Ugochukwu, has congratulated Prince Lemmy Akakem Okpala Uzo Oha on the occasion of his 75th birthday, describing him as one of the most influential figures in the history of sports development in Imo State and Nigerian football.
In a congratulatory message, Mr. Ugochukwu said Prince Lemmy Akakem belonged to a generation of visionary sports administrators whose commitment, sacrifice and leadership helped shape the foundations of modern football administration in Imo State and Nigeria.
He recalled that in the 1980s, Prince Lemmy Akakem played a crucial role in the development of sports infrastructure in the state, personally contributing funds towards the construction and development of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, which has since remained a historic hub of football and tourism activities in the state.
Mr. Ugochukwu further noted that Prince Lemy’s leadership style and administrative foresight were instrumental in the transformation of Spartans Football Club into Iwuanyanwu Nationale, a move that ushered the club into a golden era and helped establish it as a household name in Nigeria and a respected brand on the African and global football stage.
According to him, the celebrant’s influence went beyond club football, as his mentorship, discipline and passion for excellence shaped generations of players, administrators and sports leaders who have continued to serve Nigerian football with distinction.
Mr. Ugochukwu prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Prince Lemmy Akakem (Okpata Ozu Oha) wishing him long life, sound health and happiness, so he may continue to guide, mentor and inspire future generations, while remaining a living symbol of Imo State’s rich sporting heritage.
