Afrobasket 2025: Unstoppable D’Tigers Storm Into Quarterfinals

By Silvernews

Nigeria’s D’Tigers proved too strong for Cameroon on Sunday, powering to a 101-92 victory in their final Group B clash at the Afrobasket in Luanda, Angola.

The result kept Nigeria unbeaten in the group stage after earlier wins over Madagascar and defending champions Tunisia, sealing top spot and an automatic ticket to the quarterfinals.

It was a game of two halves: D’Tigers edged the first quarter 28-27, then exploded in the second with a 32-16 run. By the third, they had built a massive 31-point lead, thanks to standout performances from Caleb Agada and Christian Mekowulu.

Cameroon hit back with a late 37-point blitz in the fourth quarter, but the damage had already been done as Nigeria held on for a convincing 101-92 win.

With momentum firmly on their side, D’Tigers will now take a two-day break before hitting the court again in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
